Robotic, Laparoscopic, and General Surgery in Birmingham, AL

What is Robotic/Laparoscopic Surgery?

Robotic/Laparoscopic Surgery is a surgical technique that involves using several small incisions which are 5-10mm in length. Thin tubes, called trocars, are placed through these incisions into the abdominal cavity. Carbon dioxide gas slowly inflates the abdomen. A long, thin camera is placed in one of the trocars and allows the surgical team to view the inside of the abdomen on a TV monitor. Specialized instruments are then placed in the other trocars so the surgeon may perform the operation.

General surgeons Dr. Cameron Askew and Dr. Andrew Sabo, are expertly trained in performing surgical procedures using advanced techniques. Call (205) 874-9780 to request an appointment at our general surgery office in Birmingham, AL today.
